Fall is officially here. To celebrate I planted purple and yellow pansies, lantana, and moss roses - which wasn't the smartest thing to do since I was dealing with a sinus infection and it was cool. But looking at the results this morning - as I reached for a cough drop - it was worth it. However, I really think I'm going to let someone else plant the 90 tulip bulbs, the 7 gorgeous flame red azaleas, ferns, and assorted other plants. I have to get back to writing. I'm starting a new mainstream series. It's exciting and scary creating characters, learning what makes them who they are, discovering their dreams, their fears, throwing their lives into turmoil, and best of all rewarding them with a love that will last a lifetime.
Something fun and humbling happened last month. Because I established the Turning Point Legal Defense Fund in 2001 to assist abused women, I was named a local celebrity by Celebrity Cafe and Bakery in Dallas. For the next year I'll have a menu item named for me. If you're in the Dallas area, I invite you to stop by and order Francis Ray's Cranberry Chicken Salad. It is delicious! I went by there Saturday. Next door to the restaurant is Border's. I'm having a signing at Borders November 7th from 2 PM - 4 PM. I hope you can join me. After the signing, we can go to Celebrity and hang out.
Thanks again for the fantastic support of the Grayson Friends series. NOBODY BUT YOU, not only made the New York Times and USA Today list, it was Border's Best Selling Multicultural book for 2008.. And now, the wait is almost over for Book # 3, ONE NIGHT WITH YOU, scheduled for release November 03, 2009.
